Complete DNP Conference History and Future Plans

2005

• DNP students began discussing the idea of creating a journal to address the needs of Advanced Pactice Nurses seeking the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree.

2006

• A team of DNP students constructed a business plan. Doctors of Nursing Practice, LLC was formed November 21, 2006.

2007

• The first rendition of the web site opened February 21, 2007
• DNP, LLC displayed a poster at the First National Conference on The Doctor of Nursing Practice: Meanings and Models, Annapolis, Maryland, March 28-30, 2007. This conference was sponsored by Drexel University
• Presented at the Sigma Theta Tau 39th Biennial Conference, Baltimore, Maryland, November 2-7, 2007
• By December 2007 the site was modified to allow for greater flexibililty to meet the needs of the members registered on the site.

2008

• Doctors of Nursing Practice Professional Development, Inc., a non-profit organization directed at the educational and career growth needs of DNPs, was founded in February 2008. A separate web site was created to manage the conference.
• The First National Doctors of Nursing Practice Conference: Transforming Care Through Scholarly Practice took place in October 2008 co-hosted by the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Nursing in Memphis. It was a great success.

2009

• The two web sites for Doctors of Nursing Practice, LLC and Doctors of Nursing Practice Professional Development, Inc. were merged into one in May of 2009  to enhance the abilities of visitors to grow as a community.
• The Second National Doctors of Nursing Practice Conference: Exemplars of DNPs in Practice and Nursing Education - Defining Ourselves took place September 30 through October 2, 2009 in Miami, Florida.
• A DNP National Agenda is being articulated as a result of the national conference.
• DNP, LLC responded to the AMA's publication on NP scope of practice

2010

• The Third National DNP Conference: Innovations and Leadership took place September 29-October 1, 2010 in San Diego, California
• Inaugural DNP Outcomes Survey complete. Results shared at the Conference.
• More abstracts received than the past two years: Multiple presenters
• Working with many organizations to enhance and promote the DNP degree

2011

• The Fourth National DNP Conference: Impacting Health Care Policy took place September 28, 29 and 30, 2011 at the Westin New Orleans Canal Place
• Results of the Second Annual DNP Outcome Survey coordinated by DNP LLC and presented at the Third National DNP conference in September. The First Annual Survey results were presented via podium to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Doctoral Education conference, January 2011.

2012

• Doctors of Nursing Practice, LLC (a for-profit corporation) changed its name to Doctors of Nursing Enterprises, LLC.
• Doctors of Nursing Practice Professional Development, Inc. (a not-for-profit corporation) changed its name to Doctors of Nursing Practice, Inc.
• 501C3 status is being sought
• Fifth National DNP Conference: Evidenced-Based Nursing Education to take place September 19, 20 and 21, 2012 at the Ritz Carlton Saint Louis.

2013

• Sixth National DNP Conference
• Anticipated location: Portland, OR
• Tentative dates: September 25, 26, 27/2013

2014

• Seventh National DNP Conference
• Anticipated location: Philadelphia, PA
