History of Organizational Formation and Growth
- Plans are underway for another great year.
- Conference committee work is moving forward
- The two web sites for Doctors of Nursing Practice, LLC and Doctors of Nursing Practice Professional Development, Inc. were merged into one in May of 2009 to enhance the abilities of visitors to grow as a community.
- The Second National Doctors of Nursing Practice Conference: Exemplars of DNPs in Practice and Nursing Education - Defining Ourselves took place September 30 through October 2, 2009 in Miami, Florida.
- A DNP National Agenda is being articulated as a result of the national conference.
- DNP, LLC responded to the AMA's publication on NP scope of practice
- Doctors of Nursing Practice Professional Development, Inc., a non-profit organization directed at the educational and career growth needs of DNPs, was founded in February 2008. A separate web site was created to manage the conference.
- The First National Doctors of Nursing Practice Conference: Transforming Care Through Scholarly Practice took place in October 2008 co-hosted by the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Nursing in Memphis. It was a great success.
- The first site opened February 21, 2007
- DNP, LLC proudly displayed a poster at the First National Conference on The Doctor of Nursing Practice: Meanings and Models, Annapolis, Maryland, March 28-30, 2007. This conference was sponsored by Drexel University.
- We also presented at the Sigma Theta Tau 39th Biennial Conference, Baltimore, Maryland, November 2-7, 2007.
- By December 2007 the site was modified to allow for greater flexibililty to meet the needs of the members registered on the site.
- In the fall of this year, a group was formed to complete a course objective for a Leadership class. A business plan was developed and the need to move forward with the plan was evident to all.
- Doctors of Nursing Practice, LLC was formed on November 21, 2006. Objectives and strategies for growth of this site to meet the communication needs of professionals interested in this emerging degree were generated.
- A cohort of DNP students from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Nursing had a lively discussion in a Philosophy of Science course. The idea of creating a journal to address the informational needs of Advanced Practice Nurses seeking their Doctor of Nursing Practice degree was discussed.
