Great question Jennifer, I believe there is a place for artificial intelligence (AI); it is so helpful when used properly. It has so many benefits in regards to summarizing information to simplify complex content. An example of this would be summarizing articles and research papers thus making them more accessible and more digestible to understand large amounts of information. This also helps in clarifying key points to allow students to understand new material quickly. It also can be used as a supporting learning tool, have personally used it as a tutor to provide explanations and help me understand various topics. The fun part of AI is that it gives additional support outside the classroom by generating practice questions that can be used as a form of self-quizzing to help students prepare for exams and understand key concepts better. One downside I have noticed with AI and ChatGPT is verifying credibility. There is a risk of misinformation that can be based on outdated information. It is important to remain vigilant and to only use AI as a resource for clarification due to the risk of limiting critical thinking skills.
