As a DNP student, life can become very challenging due to a heavy school load, financial instability, and life in general. It is very difficult to manage, especially without a large support group. I struggle with this issue as my support group is very small. I suggest taking some time to create a monthly plan and budget to see where changes can be made. Creating a monthly plan and budget has helped me tremendously throughout my program. Simple changes, such as swapping name-brand items for store brands can make quite a difference. As far as managing emotional stress, find something that truly makes you happy, big or small, something to shift your focus from academia and life to something simple and pure. This can be something as simple as taking a walk, tending to a garden, meditation, or a quick 20-minute workout. These little moments will add up, and you’ll notice a difference soon enough. I wish you all the best.
