I have stopped signing orders, correspondence or anything else with “CRNP” I simply sign my name “DNP”. I was the first DNP in my current organization. Everywhere I am listed with my name and “NP” as was their custom prior. I have requested and been very persistent in seeing that my name is followed by “DNP” on directories, in our EMR etc. There are now more DNPs in my institution and they are requesting the same. It has always bothered me that my sister-in-law, who is an Optometrist- but not an MD Ophthalmologist- is readily called “Doctor” but I am not afforded the same. It is changing we just need to keep insisting on it.
