Chandra Darden, DNP, RN
Dr. Chandra Darden has been a member of the nursing profession for 22 years. She is affiliated with Faith Community Nursing where she assists her church community using nursing knowledge with spiritual care. She has a passion for health promotion education, particularly within the African American community. She provides education and support to members of the African American faith-based community to empower these members to modify behaviors and better manage hypertension and other disease processes. Dr. Darden is a faculty member at Southern Union State Community College in Opelika, Alabama where she teaches NUR 112: Fundamental Concepts of Nursing.
Purpose
The purpose of this presentation is to demonstrate the impact the Faith community has on African American health promotion. The goal is to educate peers on the importance of engaging the Faith community in health promotion.
