Bermesola M. Dyer, DNP, APRN
Bermesola Dyer is a Family Nurse Practitioner currently specializing in Obesity Medicine at a private practice in Laurel, Maryland. She is also an assistant professor of Nursing at Stevenson University. She received her BSN from Johns Hopkins in 2002 and a MSN from Bowie State University in 2012. She also pursued a DNP from Johns Hopkins University and graduated in 2016.

Objectives

  1. Provide an overview on how weight bias and obesity stigma can impact the health outcomes of people with obesity.
  2. Provide an overview on the joint international consensus statement, developed by a multidisciplinary team of international experts, addressing weight-bias and stigma.
  3. Identify strategies and recommendations to address and end stigma and weight bias to foster positive health outcomes for individuals with obesity
